Care Instructions

Do’s

  • Read the care instruction carefully.

  • Fill out and mail in your AquaWorld’s warranty registration card.
  • Place you AquaWorld under the light of fluorescent lamp with 5000K light temperature in a location where the natural light is not very bright.
  • Watch your AquaWorld carefully during the first month to make sure it is in an appropriate location (see care instructions).
  • Keep your AquaWorld at room temperatures between 16 (C (60 F) and 27 (C (85F).

Don’ts

  • Absolutely never put your AquaWorld in direct sunlight or near a window.

  • Adsolutely never shine lamps of any kind directly on the Beach World (e.g. halogen, incandescent, grow lights).

  • Do not shake your AquaWorld and do not turn it upside down. It may harm shrimps by send.

  • Do not place your AquaWorld outside.

  • Do not place your AquaWorld in a room where the temperature gets above 27 (C (85F) or below 16 (C(60F).

Setting Up Your AquaWorld

Step 1. Take the AquaWorld immediately out of its box. Be sure that the AquaWorld is positioned the right side up. This is particularly important with the pyramid because of the corners, where it is harder for the shrimp to avoid the moving sand. Make sure the spring of green algae is not buried in the sand. If it is gently tip the AquaWorld until the algae is liberated.

Step 2. Inspect your AquaWorld after you have taken it out of the box. Your AquaWorld might be a little cloudy for the first day or two. This will clean up.

Step 3. Lighting is the primary consideration, as long as the temperature remains within the rages between between 16 (C (60 F) and 27 (C (85F)

Please place your AquaWorld in a under the fluorescent light with the light temperature about 5000K. They need from 13 to 16 hours of light per day. Please use 9W or 11W fluorescent bulb with light temperature 5000k (Daylight), like fluorescent bulb by OSRAM (Gernamy) with spectrum # 11 or #12 and or lamp bulbs made by LIVAL (Finland).  The bulb usually used in LIVAL lamps are with spectrum  # 31 of #41, do not suit AquaWorlds ecosystems, their light is not good enough for the aglae to produce oxygen by photosynthesis. You may sea the bulbs of oxygen on the algae, if they receive proper amount light of the spectrum they need. Bulbs #11 and #12 are the best for the AquaWorlds.

Please place the source of light at 35-40 cm from the AquaWorld.  If it is impossible to do this with the lamp you use,  you may direct light not directly on the AquaWorld.

It is convenient to use timer, it will switch on and switch off the light.

Never allow your AquaWorld to receive direct sunlight. Do not  shine lamps of any kind directly on the AquaWorld. The room temperature needs to be between 16 (C and 27 (C.

Step 4. Watch your AquaWorld closely during the fist month to make sure it is in an appropriate location. The AquaWorld thrives in natural or, better, fluorescent (with the light temperature 5000K) light 13-16 hours per day.   If there is not enough light the shrimp will eventually die. If there is too much light algae will grow prolifically on the glass (however, the shrimp will love it). If the AquaWorld is receiving appropriate lighting the sprig of algae will remain bright green and may very slowly increase in size, a slight amount of «fingerprint» algae may grow on the glass and the shrimp will be bright red. Whenever you change the location of your AquaWorld check it every few days for several weeks to make sure that the location is appropriate and the Red Shrimps remain healthy.

The excessive level of light may cause the raise of pH of water and may harm the shrimps. One of the signs of excessiveness of light is appearance of small white spots on the surface of water.

Step 5. Fill out your AquaWorld’s registration cart and put it in the usmail. Your warranty is not valid if the card is not returned to the manufacturer within 30 days.

Trouble Shooting

Algae on the glass. A small amount of algae on the glass is good as it indicates that the AquaWorld is getting ample light. However, if it becomes unsightly place the AquaWorld in an area that receives slightly less light. The algae often clears up within a few days to a couple of weeks. If it is very stubborn and does not recede in its new location after a couple of weeks move it to a slightly darker location yet. Make sure you check your AquaWorld every few days after each move. Once the algae has gone you will probably need to place it back in a location with slightly higher light levels.

Milky water. This is a sign of an overgrowth of bacteria in the water. If this occurs put the AquaWorld in a well lit location for several days until the water clears up (but not in direct sunlight). The bloom may be a sign that a shrimp has died.

Dead Red Shrimps. Over several years the shrimp will die of natural causes. If you see several dead shrimp within your AquaWorld sometime within the first week of your having the AquaWorld this might indicate a problem during transportation. If a shrimp dies and the AquaWorld is crystal clear, there’s no algae on the glass or on any of the shells in the sand, then you probably need to give the AquaWorld a little more light. Never shake the AquaWorld as this could harm the shrimp, and even kill them.

Very high light can raise the pH in the water to a level sufficient to damage the shrimps. If algae grows prolifically on the glass it is an indication that the light level is a little too high. It the white particles resembling powdered sugar appear on the surface of the water, the level of light is too high.

Diminishing Green Algae Spring. The green algae is producing oxygen for the shrimps but it is not the only source of oxygen. If the green algae sprig shrinks in size or even disappears other microalgae in the AquaWorld will take over oxygen production.
